Minister Han Changfu meets Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development

Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Uri Yehuda Ariel Hacohen, Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, in Beijing on August 12, 2015. The two sides exchanged views on comprehensively advancing the bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Minister Han spoke highly of China-Israel agricultural cooperation including S&T exchanges, trade, investment, demonstration and aid. He noted that both China and Israel possess comparative advantages in agriculture which provide strong complementarities to each other. Under the "Belt and Road" (Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road) Initiative advocated by China, there is a broad prospect and great potential for China-Israel agricultural cooperation.
In order to promote future collaboration, Minister Han emphasized four points: first, continuously improving China-Israel agricultural cooperation mechanism; second, enhancing technology exchanges in water-saving irrigation and aquaculture; third, boosting agricultural investment cooperation; and fourth, exploring the possibility to conduct tripartite cooperation in Africa.
Minister Uri Ariel fully agreed with Minister Han and expressed his readiness to step up cooperation with China under the framework of the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
Other senior officials attending the meeting include Mr. Bi Meijia, Chief Economist and Director-General of the General Office of MOA, Mr. Yoseph Katribas, Deputy Director-General of Israeli Prime Minister''s Office, and Mr. Matan Vilnai, Israeli Ambassador to China.
